Day 4
BOAT TRIP AROUND PYLOS BAY
Today was an earlier start, 7:30am breakfast, and then out the door to Pylos Bay for a day on the water. Olivia, our Greek breakfast mother, has introduced us to a wellness tradition of having a tbsp of molasses each morning, (only a few of us are catching on), We heard from Annabelle and Tristyn about the significance of Pylos Bay and were given the focus Question, “How did the geography of Pylos Bay influence historical naval battles and the development of the surrounding region?”. We drove an hour to Pylos, met our captains and took off to explore the bay via boat. We checked out the series of Sphacteria Island, located in Navarino Bay, Greece, is a significant historical site. It has natural barriers that protect the bay from strong winds. Two important naval battles occurred here: one in 425 BC during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta, and another in 1827, which was crucial for Greek independence. After checking out the French, Russian, Italian, and British monuments, we stopped at a secret beach for a quick swim, and of course some choreographed synchro swim moves for a mme. Pike video :) The weather was perfect and the best conditions we have had out of all the boat tours done. We had a quick ice cream and shop around the town square before heading back to our home in Kyaprissia. We played some super fun Minute to Win It, games that Ms. McGrath organized.
