Day 3
TURTLE WAKE UP, NOKY AQUATHON & BEACH GAMES
Turtle Sleepover and NOLY Triathlon
Always a highlight, waking up on the beach after falling asleep under a blanket of stars. We had the extraordinary experience of spotting a couple nesting turtles. We were able to see this up close because we had special red light flashlights which do not disturb the turtles if only shone at their backside. One turtle even laid an impressive 85 eggs! This experience was unforgettable for many! Many conflicting ideas about whether we saw the Starlink satellites or a major celestial event, shooting stars were seen by many too.
We met up with NOKY club and did an aquathon, (swim and a run). SMUS did great and Lauren, Des and Ella made the podium. We enjoyed some downtime after lunch before heading to the NOKY pool, (the Olympic-size community pool SMUS helped fix up back in 2015). The evening concluded with our annual beach games on the beach with some of the locals, organized and ran by Mr. Doland.
